Background
This clip is from Episode 3 of Good Day, a variety featuring G-Dragon’s musical project to perform with a mega supergroup of artists and entertainers akin to "We Are The World", a pop culture thing in the analog world. Imagine Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Drake, Bruno Mars, Coldplay etc singing together about climate change or some common cause. In this episode, G-Dragon meets other celebs all born in 1988 like him.
Cultural Key Points
"I'm a Firefly.": This song unexpectedly became a hit recently, more than 2 years after its May 2022 release. Incidentally, I wrote about it last November here.
"I Am Solo": One of the most trending variety dating shows in Korea in its 13th(?) season. Each season, participants are assigned different names, but the same set of names (e.g., 영철, 영수, 정숙, 옥순, 순자) is reused. These names are inspired by common Korean names from past generations, giving a somewhat nostalgic or relatable feel. This episode of Good Day parodies I Am Solo so they are assigned fictional names.
